Excited for King Khan & BBQ Show!

This was fun, thought the line up was good. Nobody knew who E.S.B were before they played, i believe one or 2 of them are from Children Collide. They sounded nothing like C.C, they were like some fucked up MC5 psych/garage band. MC5 jamming on Dirtbombs or something. Pretty sick.
UV's played good. HADUKEN, HADUKEN, CONFUSION, CONFUSION. Went down good. Marcus told a very the crowd about a strange dream he'd had involving a cat, his father and a cop raping him. Marcus also had one of his top 5 costumes ever. DX had a great call from the back of the stage in the dark, "Can i get more spotlight on me?". The place started to really fill up when UV's were on.
The Twerps were good, i don't see them enough. Been caining the 7"/CD lately. Marty was in fine form. Good stuff. They had some killer multi-coloured shirts at the show for sale, i wish i'd had the cash for one.
The show was sold out, a good 800 people there for the Black Lips. The crowd was made up of people who like the UV Race and then 450 odd dickheads. Lots of crowd surfing, lots of idiots on the stage. The band didn't impress me much, they seemed to just fuck around the whole time they were on the stage. Weird set list, weird vibes from the band. I hear their dicks, i can see that being the case.

Hard Ons 25th Anniversary Tour
This Friday - Digger & The Pussycats are playing at The Tote, this is a pre Euro tour show and attendance is a MUST. Might be $10, maybe more!
The Hard Ons are about set off on a national tour for their 25th Anniversary.

Slow coach.
Well, it's been a while- their launch tour for "The Rise And Fall Of Goodtown" started back on 8th May- but I am finally catching the excellent Wagons for the first time since summer on Friday night.
The Oakleigh Bowls Club may not be the hippest place in town, but it's friendly, cosy (only 240 capacity, all sold out) and cheap. "Goodtown" is a great record, too, by the way- but don't just take my word for it.
And then on Saturday, there's this, at the Corner Hotel:

Although I have an awful feeling that at a mere $20, that's sold out too.
If you have nothing to do on Sunday, why not head over to the Old Bar for their monthly garage sale? Admission is free, you can drink a couple of $10 jugs, and buy some crap that someone else is trying to get rid of.
God knows I still haven't listened to the four $1.00 CDs I got there last month.

Harem Scarem- reissue and reformation
It's about time this thing got a run.The good people at Atzec Music have just reissued Harem Scarem's astonishing 1986 LP, "Pilgrim's Progress", and its great to hear it again. It's been remixed, includes extra live tracks, b-sides and other good stuff, and also has a fat booklet of liner notes, including some very interesting observations from singer Chris Marshall, although no one's ever been able to explain that cover art to my satisfaction. I've had it on high rotation for the past week or so. The band are reforming for one show only (or at least, no other shows have been confirmed as yet) at the Corner Hotel on March 29th.
Anyway, another dig in the archives brought this to light:
Forgive my bias when I say that B Side was Australia's best fanzine for much of the 1980s. The Harem Scarem piece mentioned on the cover is an interview that the lovely Caroline Birkett, assistant editor, did with Chris about a month before the album came out, and is still a pretty good read.
