Back to work in more ways than one and the I-94 Bar is again open for business. THere's the odd giveaway running because it's our 10th anniversary. Time flies when you're having fun.
Let's start 2010 with some good news, after a string of bad stuff over the holiday break like the death of the Tote Hotel in Melbourne.
Ex-Powder Monkeys guitarist John Nolan has started digitising old footage of his legendary band and parts are finding their way to YouTube. If you don't know who they were, read this recent Comfy Chair posting by Jim Lewis.
On to the filmclip and word is you might be able to buy some of these shows as DVDs in the near future. That would be money wisely spent. Try this for size:

Before we were so rudely interrupted
If you've been thinking it was quiet around these parts lately, you were right. A terminal graphics card took the whole damned mother(fucker) board with it and $1100 bucks later we're b-a-a-a-a-a-c-k. Hope you missed us.

Max Raabe. WTF?

It's possibly poor form for an ungrateful ezine to complain about promos but even poorer form for a publicist not to know their market. So, after a string of tenors of various group denominations, priests and faux swing band CDs and DVDs landing in the I-94 Bar post office box, should I "out" the PR person who sent this abomination?

New look I-94 Bar
There's a bit of work underway. It's still in progress but you can see it here.
All suggestions for improvements gratefully accepted. And yeah, I know the navigation bar blinks in Firefox. That bug's being addressed.
The Podcast thingie has moved too. You can access it via the sidebar here or directly at the new host Libsyn. It sure beats the clunky place it was hosted before.

I-94 Bar goes M.I.A.
OK, I screwed up a change of hosting and the thing went down for a day. Mea culpa. Reminds me of this.

Another Ian Rilen tribute
Ian's funeral was held on Saturday and by all accounts was a fitting and emotional affair. The wake drained every drop of alcohol available over the bar at West St Kilda RSL.
Melbourne I-94 Bar writer TJ Honeysuckle has posted a moving tribute that you'll want to read. (Most I-94 Bar columns are shifting to Blogspot, by the way, to make them more interactive and relevant.)
